Labour And Wait

I ventured into Shoreditch fairly recently, desiring a change of scenery, and I was met with just that. When exiting the station turn left, and Labour and Wait is only a five to ten-minute walk away, depending on pace. Walking along Redchurch Street, the exterior is a strikingly jewel green and cannot be missed.

Fond of all things interior, I love nothing more than wandering around a homeware shop. It has all the essentials, from butter knives and pastry brushes to sewing books and hand framed Guernsey jumpers. Over the years, I have picked up various pieces of homeware and am now at full capacity regarding space! Until I move, I will have to curb my desire for a new kettle, bread bin, coffee pot, stockpot, paella pan, oil can, plant sprinkler, letter postcard… the list is endless.

The addition of quality clothing accompanied by stationery and creative hobby endeavours, ensures it can be a one-stop shop for many. While I was in the shop, the letter postcards and Kraft envelopes drew my attention. While the Kraft envelopes are common in Japan, it is not something that I have seen in the UK. It’s a great concept for the recipient of a card to be able to re-use an envelope in future.

Labour and Wait shops can be found in Shoreditch, Marylebone, Covent Garden, as well as Dover Street Market on the third floor.

Gaylord Restaurant London

On Monday evening I attended the 50th anniversary of Gaylord Restaurant. Located in the West End, it is a popular Indian restaurant.

As we walked towards the entrance I could see there was a red carpet and champagne on offer. Something I wasn’t expecting as I arrived in the clothes I had worn at work half an hour before! Nonetheless, I still posed for the photographer at the event! Ha-ha!

The owners speech was truly inspiring. To successfully run a business for 50 years is an enormous accomplishment! The evening flowed, with waiters serving platters of food to all within an energetic atmosphere. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

If you are a fan of quality Indian food, then I highly recommend visiting Gaylord Restaurant.

 

The Ivy Chelsea Garden

In celebration of my 21st birthday, myself and my best friend went for lunch at the Ivy Chelsea Garden on Kings Road. Oozing sophistication within a relaxed atmosphere, it lived up to its reputation.

Lunch was booked for 12:15, however, after a slight issue with the train, we were fashionably late! We were taken to our seats as soon as we arrived and presented with our cocktail choice The Ivy Garden Royale within five minutes. Service was impeccable throughout.

We ordered the Chicken Milanese and Roast Duck Breast with a side of olive oil mashed potato. It was truly scrumptious and I would highly recommend the duck! For dessert, we decided to go next door to Nell’s, a cafĂ© and tea room. Witnessing their display of mouth-watering cakes in the shop window, we agreed we had to stop by before we headed home. If you decide to have dessert at the Ivy, then I would opt for the chocolate bomb I devoured the last time I visited.

That was just the start of my birthday celebrations and long may they continue! Surely I can celebrate the big 21 for at least a month right!?

Electric Diner, London

Located on Portobello Road, this American diner is worth raving about. Situated within Portobello market, the atmosphere is euphoric. I recently went there for brunch to celebrate my friends 21st birthday. Upon entering the diner, we were warmly greeted by our waiter and taken to our table. Immediately we were served the most delicious apple and grapefruit juice. electric diner.JPG

I opted for Waffles, Strawberry Jam and cream. I devoured it all! It was too good not to. The kitchen is in close proximity, however the noise only added to the energetic atmosphere. Overall the ambience was eventful with many conversations and laughter present in the diner.

If you happen to stop by Portobello market then I’d recommend visiting. Although, I’d suggest booking in advance as it can get busy pretty quickly.

There is a cinema opposite the diner that I plan on visiting next time. I recall you can purchase a front row bed for two ! Now surely that’s worth looking into!
